Is Christianity A White Man's Religion?
BLACK HISTORY MONTH QUESTIONNAIRE
There will be a Q&A on the day, and if you would like to ask a question in advance, please use this link: https://bit.ly/4eqTCLJ
A common question that is asked when speaking about Christianity amongst Africans and Caribbean people is, ‘Isn’t Christianity the white man’s religion?’.
Join us on Sat 12 Oct 2024 at 6pm where we explore Christianity’s multi-ethnic origins and global diversity.
This event addresses the narrative that drives some of the deeper issues of trauma, identity and conflict today.
This question is a response to the historical trauma of colonialism and the transatlantic slave trade with the involvement of Christianity.
But, what is not commonly known is the depth and richness of African and Caribbean Christian history, including how African and Caribbean Christian history, how African theologians and philosophers shaped Christianity as we know it and how Christianity is historically an indigenous Asian/ African religion.
Come and join us at Micah Church as we examine Africans’ contributions to Christianity, correct misconceptions about the religion, and examine how Africa still shapes Christian thinking today.
We’ll be discussing:
- African presence in the Bible
- Christianity in Africa before the slave trade
- African theologians and philosophers’ contributions to Christianity
- Christianity and slavery
